Laboratories
The Floor Coordinators are responsible for the CLS laboratories which are not associated with a Beamline. This includes the two wet labs in the facility (Room 1071 and Room 1080). The assigned FC is responsible for the regular cleaning and maintenance of these labs, including the analytical instrumentation, as well as restocking of the consumables.
The on-duty Floor Coordinator is responsible for the monitoring of the conditions in the laboratories on a shift-by-shift basis. It is their responsibility to take immediate remedial action as may be necessary, should the laboratory be used in an improper manner or be left in an unacceptable state. Any larger problems will be handled by the assigned FC.
Working in the laboratories requires that a laboratory permit be posted (in the blue folders above each laboratory work station). Users can be added onto existing lab permits, provided that their CLS Lab Safety Training is completed and valid. If you do not have a laboratory permit, please contact the FC who can help you fill out a Temporary Lab Permit.
When working in the labs, Users are asked to:
- wear all required PPE at all times
- stay within the allotted sections as laboratory space is limited
-
exercise EXTREME cleanliness to prevent contamination of samples
-
remove purple gloves when leaving the laboratory as indicated in the CLSI Laboratory Safety Guidelines Doc. #11.1.55
-
clean up at the end of your experimental run and leave the laboratory as you found it
-
take down laboratory permits at the end of your experimental run
