Roles and Responsibilities

The Canadian Light Source Floor Coordinators (FCs) are the primary liaison between the Facility and the Users on the Beamlines, and the main point-of-contact for Users during most operational hours at the CLS.

They are there to ensure safe and efficient operations on the Experimental Floor. The safety of the users and the equipment is the main focus of the FCs.

The on-duty FC provides technical, scientific and administrative support for the Users in the absence of Beamline and Users Office Staff.

Additionally, they are all trained in laboratory safety and operations. All laboratories that are not associated with a Beamline (there are 2 wet labs on site) are managed and maintained by a permanent Floor Coordinator.

The FCs play a key role in the following:

Activity and Compliance Emergency Situations
After Hours Assistance Machine Operations
Laboratories Environmental Monitoring
Beamline Maintenance
