Quick Start
Data Collection Procedure
- From the "Beamline Setup" tab of MXDC, click "Mounting Mode".
- At 08ID-1 only: Rotate the protective cover over the sample camera.
- At 08ID-1 only: Click "Retract" on the Nozzle Control to retract the nitrogen stream nozzle.
- Physically mount the cryo-pin onto the goniometer.
- At 08ID-1 only: Click "Restore" on the Nozzle Control to restore the nitrogen stream nozzle position.
- From the "Beamline Setup" tab of MXDC, click "Centering Mode".
- Align the crystal using the "Samples" tab of MXDC either in the hutch or outside.
- Lock-up the endstation.
- Open the safety shutter.
- From the "Beamline Setup" tab of MXDC, click "Collect Mode".
- In the "Data Collection" tab of MXDC, enter parameters such as the directory you wish to store your data in, prefix for the image file names, distance of detector, omega delta, start frame and end frame.
- Click "Save" before collecting.
Getting Started After an Injection
- Push the Safety Shutter (Front End) OPEN button on the POE-2 panel and the Shutter OPEN button on the SOE-1 panel.
- Select "Restore Beam" from the "Beamline Setup" tab of MXDC. Energy optimization will automatically follow.
Software
Start MXDC, the Macromolecular Crystallography Data Collector, by double-clicking the "Mx Data Collector" icon on the desktop.

Start a remote session for data processing by double-clicking the "Data Processing" icon.

Start HKL2000 by double-clicking the "HKL2000" icon.

The following programs are available. Note that some programs are only available through a remote session on the Data Processing computer. (Click a name in the table below to go to that program's home page).
You can find the HLK2000 def.site file needed to work off-site with data collected at CMCF in the Data Processing section.
Viewing Images
To view your diffraction images (.img files), follow the instructions found in the Viewing Images section.
