HXMA Technical Details-Wiggler
The Superconducting Wiggler

A SC Wiggler was selected as HXMA's SR source for three primary reasons:
- It provides a useable photon energy range up to ~40 keV, including most of the elements, either via the K- or L-edge measurements
- It provides a broad band incoming spectrum 'constant' in time as desired for high quality spectroscopy measurements, especially as in XAFS, the measurement requires a high beam stability over a substantial range of photon energy even in a single scan (c.a. over 1keV after the absorption edge)
- The simultaneous availability of a broad band SR spectrum for time resolved spectroscopic studies.
